Can you show the service file you're using for Squid?

Could it be that you're editing the wrong file (`etc/systemd/system`
versus `/usr/share/lib/systemd/system` (I think...))? Or not reloading
the systemd-daemon? What does `systemctl show squid` and `systemctl cat
squid` show as configuration?
